Carbon capture and shipping

Enabling the South West’s Energy Transition

Changing the South West’s fight against climate change.

Based at Avonmouth Docks, Bristol, UK, 7CO₂: The Severnside Carbon Capture & Shipping Hub, will be able receive, process, store and load up to 6 million tonnes of captured CO₂ annually, for onward transport to permanent geological storage or use.

Net zero has met its match.

7CO₂ is a critical contributor to reducing industrial CO2 emissions and delivering zero-emission regional power by 2030.

Watch our in-depth video to see what we’re doing to help the UK reach its decarbonisation goals.

Decarbonisation innovation at its best.

We’re using an innovative combination of transport solutions and best-in-class processes to enable cleaner air for the UK’s South West region.

  • "Carbon capture is central to Viridor's decarbonisation strategy. 7CO2 will allow us to introduce CCS to three of our largest plants"

    Kevin Bradshaw, CEO of Viridor

  • "At Bristol Port, we will host the 7CO2 hub. We have an ideal site, adjacent to the dock and with direct access to our rail facilities"

Jonathan Mourdant, Managing Director of The Bristol Port Company

  • "CCS can be used to capture the vast majority of emissions at power stations like Seabank, to ensure we can continue to deliver reliable, flexible power across the region"

Hannah Bronwin, Head of Business Development, SSE Thermal

  • "The 7CO2 hub has fantastic potential for the new development of new sustainable carbon neutral fuels that we can transport across the UK for use in transport.”

Nacho Casajus, Gobal Clean Energies Lead, Exolum

  • "Companies are investing in the West of England. Working together the public and private sectors must ensure a just transition as we strive to reach higher standards for the environment"

Dan Norris, West of England Mayor
